Dollmail follows a paper doll who moves through a house, piecing together an image of her human through the objects lying around. Opened envelopes, dirty clothes, scattered belongings. As she sifts through correspondence and handles things never meant for her, she catches glimpses of a life: singing, touching, eating. Experiences outside her reach.
She tries on choices she cannot make. Attempting to imitate life. A meal she can only look at. Each object pulls her deeper into a life she can touch but never inhabit. She becomes enmeshed, longing for more, contemplating her limited choices.
Dollmail is about secondhand living, what it means to know someone entirely through what they leave behind, and how we project our desires on the memories of others.

The creation of this collaged comic was the inspiration of DollMail. I created this comic to depict my repetitive routine that is very dependent on the random objects found on my bedroom floor.
I began to think about whether other people could look at my belongings and come to know me as a person.
